I grew up on the Gulf Coast, then spent my adult life inching my way up the East Coast and now live just outside Washington, DC.
I married Tommy in the summer of 2012, and we bought a house five days later! I used to blog about crafty projects, but I've gotten busy with home projects as we make our house into our home, so now you'll see a mix of both. Oh yeah, and I DIYed everything but the weather for our wedding, so that's in there, too.
An adorable mutt rounds out our family. I rescued him out of a flowerbed on a busy highway in 2006, and aptly named him Lucky. Turns out I was the lucky one though, because he's the snuggliest, friendliest, smartest mutt I know.
I work full-time as a nerd. Projects are my biggest hobby (though I also enjoy traveling, outdoor activities, and spending time with friends and family). I blog about my projects in the hopes that I might inspire readers to try something new. I'm not an expert now, and I certainly wasn't several years ago when I started DIYing my life. But you don't have to be an expert to get things done! Case in point: While installing the wood floors in my condo I asked my Mom "you've used a saw before, right?" No, she hadn't, and neither had I! But the floor turned out great anyways!
My "projects" consist of sewing, floral design, decorating, organizing, working on the house, landscaping, general DIY, and a little bit of cooking and baking thrown in for good measure. Just about anyone could do these projects. You might not get it perfect the first time, but neither do I. Tenacity is a skill worth learning! Besides, it's usually cheaper for you to do it twice than to hire an expert.
