I love how creative folks are with their invitations, and how much one little piece of paper can say about a couple. So, you know, maybe I've been saving them for the past few years in a folder.
But hey, that came in handy for this project!!!

I figured I don't really need to hang on the invitation for every wedding I've ever attended, so why not gift it back to the couple in a unique way? Our tree is decorated only with special ornaments, and I love sharing that tradition with others.
So, here's what to do! I started with a wedding invitation (maybe this could also be cute for kids birthdays?).
I cut the invitation horizontally, so that each sliver had a line of writing on it. Then I wrapped each one around a skinny pen to make a squiggle.
I inserted the squiggles into a clear Christmas ornament. I didn't go with the craft ones, even though they're unbreakable, because I liked the luminescence of these glass ones better. They just looked more regal somehow.
I made sure important stuff, like their names, showed in good places.
And finished it off with a ribbon!

Love these? I entered them in the Washington Post's Holiday Craft Contest! Head on over there and "like" me, and I'll have a chance to win $500! The easiest way to find mine is by searching "Bonnie" on the page.
I’m also sharing this at the Dare to DIY party hosted by Decor and the Dog, Maybe Matilda, Newly Woodwards, and Two Twenty One!
And I linked it up with a bunch of other blogs I love!
Love it! I found you through the Christmas Cheer link up! I created a wedding invitation ornament last year and it is my favorite ornament on our tree!!
